Moving through the grief process is never easy. It's like climbing a mountain. Hospice of Hope’s bereavement department is committed to assisting those who are walking the painful path of grief and loss. Our Mountain Pathway Day Camp is a program designed especially for children from 6 to 12 years old who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Our specially trained bereavement staff will help children navigate their grief journey in a safe and fun environment.
The day camp incorporates grief projects along with traditional camp activities. Throughout the day, campers process their grief through sharing their stories of loss, finding support, and learning effective coping skills. The day concludes with a family picnic, showcasing the children’s art projects, memorial wall, and camp song. Lunch, snacks, and a picnic dinner are included. Scheduled camp activities are monitored by Hospice of Hope staff and trained camp staff. Activities for the day include swimming, rock wall climbing, and even a Zip Line! You don't want to miss out on any of the fun. Please bring a bathing suit, towel, goggles, and sturdy and comfortable shoes if needed.
Previous campers often have so much fun they want to return the next summer so they can welcome and help someone else who may be grieving. One camper summed up the day by saying, “I learned to replace the sadness with happy memories.”
The Mountain Pathway Day Camp is scheduled for July 28, 2020, held at the Butler Springs Christian Camp & Retreat Center in Hillsboro, Ohio. Reservations are $5.00 per child and can be made by calling Melissa Roby at 800.928.4243 or by email at mroby@hohope.org.
