Jessica Corde is an exemplary representative of our mission statement and is a true Hospice Hero. Jessica is a very compassionate, competent, and thoughtful nurse. A patient's family member recently lost the ability to say her husband's name frequently, and her husband was grieving this loss. Jessica had the idea to present the husband with a stuffed basset hound with a voice recording of the patient speaking her husband's name. She chose this particular stuffed animal as the couple have a pet basset hound.
The following words were shared by the patient's husband: "When I went to see my Carla yesterday, the whole staff came into her room. They said they had a surprise. Jessica laid this stuffed Bassett Hound on my shoulder. She said to press its ear. When I did, it said my name. I said, 'That's my Carla's voice.' I started crying. For them to do this for me was the most wonderful thing anyone has ever done for me. I thanked them from the bottom of my heart and told them again how much I loved them. I will cherish it for the rest of my life."
Congratulations Jessica!
