I didn’t get the vaccine for me; I got it for my patients, for my family, for my boyfriend, for my friends, for the complete strangers I will come in contact with daily. I didn’t get the vaccine for me; I got it for the family that lost a loved one due to Covid-19. I didn’t get the vaccine for me; I got it so children could go back to school. I didn’t get the vaccine for me; I got it so Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Facilities could open their visiting hours back up. I didn’t get the vaccine for me; I got it so I no longer have to watch family members say goodbye through FaceTime due to visiting restrictions. I didn’t get the vaccine for me; I got it for my coworkers/colleagues/friends in health care who are just plain exhausted and traumatized by all the loss we’ve seen. I didn’t get the shot for me; I got it for my future children in hopes that they can grow up in a somewhat “normal” world where they only hear stories of this pandemic - not have to live it.
